Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley, one of his statements is an outright lie.

January 19, 2011

The newly elected governor of Alabama is a lying sack of putrid crap.  To see that for yourself, all you have to do is read his two statements highlighted below in red.  In my opinion Bentley, your typically evil stinking pile of rat shit decadent religious prejudice told us the truth in his first statement and has lied through his teeth since then. Expect nothing but more lies and deceit from this fundamentalist bigot until Alabama regains its sanity and elects a civilized decent American. Clearly, he is totally devoid of tolerance of others, the basic human rights of people and lacks any semblance of civic responsibility.

Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley told a church crowd just moments into his new administration that those who have not accepted Jesus as their savior are not his brothers and sisters,

Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley apologized Wednesday for his inauguration day remarks about only Christians being his brothers and sisters and said he would work over the next four years for people of all faiths and colors. "If anyone from other religions felt disenfranchised by the language, I want to say I am sorry. I am sorry if I offended anyone in any way,"

Yes he probably is sorry (for the uproar and bad publicity), but I fully expect him to continue to offend and disenfranchise those who he feels are NOT his brothers and sisters.

What The Bigots Don’t Want.

December 9, 2010

Too many American’s seem to have never really learned to treat their fellow humans with respect. These days we find far too many of our fellow citizens ready willing and anxious to be narrow-minded toward their fellow humans. It is this mentality that promotes hatred of anyone different that themselves; race, color, religion, national origin, etc. etc.etc. They don’t want gays to marry each other. They do not want children born in America to be Americans. They don’t want a mosque built anywhere in America (it will be to close to ground zero). They don’t want atheists. They don’t want any language but English. They don’t want people to immigrate to our country. They don’t want – they don’t want – they don’t want is about all we hear from them these days. Oh how weary I am of hearing all of the decent humane things they don’t want and of all of the inhumane things they do want.

I no longer believe that Barack Obama is a kind and caring human being.

June 13, 2009

Yesterday, a Democratic President of the United States of America, in the year 2009, and an African-American child of inter-racial parents no less, gave his lawyers the go ahead to compare our marriages to incest on the same day that 42 years ago the Supreme Court ruled in his parents’ favor in Loving v. Virginia.
A great nation deserves the truth: A word about Barack Obama and the lawyers in our midst

Yes, the President of the United States of America, a man I voted for, compared same sex marriage to incest and pederasty.  This kind of bigoted attitude is what I expect from people seeped in religion and the hatred that religion fosters.  It is not the attitude and rhetoric that I will tolerate from someone I helped vote into office.  In the next election there is an excellent chance that my vote will be cast elsewhere.  I do not expect to have to endure such a high level of bigotry, hatred and ignorance from a politician I supported.

I am not alone in my reaction to President Obama’s bigotry.  A Coalition of LGBT groups and ACLU issued a statement condemning the Obama administration for their defense of DOMA.

Additionally, here are a collection of related comments from around the internet

Muslims want tangible change on Mideast from Obama

May 31, 2009

Respect for Islam, a prescription for Palestinian statehood and assurances of a speedy U.S. pullout from Iraq — that’s what Muslims from Morocco to Malaysia want to hear from President Barack Obama this week when he addresses them from this Arab capital.   Yahoo! News

I have little respect for any religion, especially one that whose leaders and followers both historically and currently call for the death of those that do not follow their superstitious beliefs.  Muslims have been so indoctrinated into killing other humans that they regularly kill each other just because the other is of a different sect or tribe.  And just about every other Muslim leader has their own sect or tribe.   Respect for Muslims, hardly!  These are people that show absolutely no respect for anyone else and the only reason our and other governments give them any deference is because of politics and certainly not because they are the kinds of people that have earned respect because of their humanity toward others.  They show no respect for others and in fact have repeatedly strived for the complete eradication of other peoples and religions.   Governments may fear them because of their numbers and cruelty, but they have never been entitled to respect.

The change that needs to happen in the Mideast and Fareast must come from Muslim’s themselves.  When Muslims change into respectful human beings, learn the art of compromise, acknowledge and support the humanity of all other humans then they will have earned the respect they now demand.

Admittedly, there are some small percent of the Muslim world, especially in the western world, that do not conform at all to the stereotype I have drawn in my first paragraph.  But, in my estimation if the Mideast and Fareast Muslims had their way, these Western Muslims would be eradicated well before anyone else.

Rick Warren to give inaugural invocation

December 17, 2008

President-elect Barack Obama’s swearing-in ceremony will feature big names like minister Rick Warren and legendary singer Aretha Franklin, the Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies announced Wednesday.

Warren, the prominent evangelical and founder of the Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California, will deliver the ceremony’s invocation. The minister hosted a presidential forum at his church last summer that challenged both Obama and Arizona Sen. John McCain on a host of faith-related issues. Warren did not endorse either presidential candidate.

His public support for California’s Proposition 8 — the measure that successfully passed and called for outlawing gay marriage in the state — sparked the ire of many gay rights proponents, who seized on a comment in an October newsletter to his congregation: "This is not a political issue — it is a moral issue that God has spoken clearly about."  CNN Political Ticker

I am not the least bit surprised at this.  Earlier this year I wrote of how easy it is for Warren to lie and how Obama’s religion is dangerous

Believe me, Obama is just as much of a gay hater and homophobe as Warren.  Why do I say that?  Because he is a jock.  I am a 74 year heterosexual male and all of my life I have listened to jocks use the most vile, degrading and hateful speech when referring to anyone they presume as being gay.  Locker room banter is comprised of three topics; the game, women, and hateful homosexual references. Obama’s basketball locker room probably also includes politics, but I have no doubt of the others.  Obama’s public persona has been to be politically polite to the LGBT community, after all they also contribute to his campaign, but he hardly has been considered a strong defender of them. I seriously doubt his administration will have a strong record of supporting the rights and liberties of LGBT Americans.

I guess I should be happy that McCain / Palin were not elected.  They would probably have chosen Fred Phelps pastor of Westboro Baptist Church and proprietor of the infamous "God Hates Fags" Web site.

Immigration and the Statue of Liberty

March 29, 2008

I grew up in the small town of Wabeno, Wisconsin.  My earliest memories there are of wooden sidewalks and hitching posts.  We had a consolidated school district that drew from half of the county as well as parts of the county south of us.  Among other things we learned citizenship and U. S. History.  I remember learning this poem and what it meant to the vast majority of the people in this country.  My teachers emphasized that Americans were people from all other countries and the road they traveled to get to this country was littered with the bodies of those who were somehow prevented from getting here, often by the leaders of their original country.  It is a tragedy that today’s Americans are not taught the same respect for our immigrants.

A poem by Emma Lazarus is graven on a tablet within the pedestal on which the statue stands.

The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,

With conquering limbs astride from land to land;

Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand

A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame

Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name

Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand

Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command

The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

“Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she

With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Apparently to many of today’s Americans this poem has no meaning at all.

I am a very conservative person in many areas, but when it comes to politics and culture I am pretty darned liberal.  I think that humanitarianism is a very good thing, am a strong supporter of civil rights for all, as a young adult I actively worked for integration, and I encourage tolerance of others.  Yep, I am socially liberal and from that bent, I am also politically liberal and these days a Democrat.

I have family, friends and even fellow bloggers that are very supportive of one candidate over another and are vocal about the negative aspects of the candidates they do not support.  This is what I try to tell them.

“I am totally opposed to any Democrat attacking any other Democrat.  The fundamentalist-right-wing-nut Republicans are the ENEMY and not one of our own.  Yes, it would be great to have an liberal idealist in office, but any Democrat will be better than any of those Republicans.  Attacking our own is exactly what the ENEMY would like us to do.    What is the goal – to regain the White House, Congress and hopefully the Supreme Court or to have a blood feud?

Hell, contribute money to all of Democrats.

Actually, I will actively work and contribute money to any candidate with an “if elected’ promise that includes having an open investigation into all of the criminal acts of Bush and company.  But I fear; 1) that not a one of them will make that promise and 2) regardless of who is elected, an investigation will never happen.”

I Wish I Could Agree With This

A Seattle parent who battled the school district over its racial balancing policy says she feels vindicated by the today’s Supreme Court decision.

Kathleen Brose is president of “Parents Involved in Community Schools.”

She says she’s relieved the seven-year dispute was settled in her favor.

She says she felt the lawsuit was something she had to do after her daughter was rejected from her top three choices for high school partly because she is white.

I look at this very differently.  The fascist Bush Supreme Court has determined to reinstate segregation.  Not all at once, but a little at a time.  These people are no longer Republicans or even Conservatives.  The bigots, racists, elitists and fascists have taken over the Party of Lincoln.  It no longer is a political party that decent people can respect.  Now that they have packed the Supreme Court with their kind of jurists, America can look forward to a series of decisions that will move the entire fabric of our county toward the evil ruthless society we saw in Europe in the 30’s and 40’s.

People of color, atheists, the indigenous peoples of our country, Latinos, non-Christians and Middle Eastern people already are repeatedly targeted by the media, the courts, the White House and Republican Candidates for President, for “special treatment”.  But this is not very special in the eyes of the recipients.  Instead it is painfully obvious that they are being punished for being different than those in power.

So now what? Race could be out as a factor in assigning students to public schools, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Thursday, leaving educators to ponder less reliable alternatives for creating racially diverse classrooms. School districts can still place students according to family income, academic achievement or even neighborhood poverty rates—all assumed to bear at least some correlation with race. But where that’s been tried, it has rarely resulted in integrated schools. And to the extent these alternatives are meant as proxies for race, they could still be vulnerable to constitutional attack.

So all these neo-fascists want a system that is “fair and un-biased” (ignoring 300 years of bias that brought us here) so I have a solution.  It is mathematical and totally un-biased.

Have the National Science Foundation devise a random number formula using the year ending Dow average, the year ending estimated population of the US. and other random factors, that will generate two values: 1) A number to identify a specific school.  2) A number to identify a specific student.

Then the next school year that student attends that school – no exceptions – parents, schools, teachers, students and governments will simply have to deal with the fairness of it all.  To assure that there is no bias built into this system, every year every student gets reassigned according to the results of that years formula.  And the federal government would foot the cost for transportation of the students.

In fact this is so fair that no one will support it.

This might also be a good technique for selecting our government leaders.  It would also mean we would not have to listen to all of the political noise we are subjected to daily in this country.   Nah, no one will buy that either.

Don Imus just an average white American

April 9, 2007

I am a 73 year old white American.  I look and sound like your standard white American.   But I am not.  I have 5 daughters, and 2 sons.  Between them they have 3 mothers and 4 fathers.   There are 2 religions and some atheists among them.  One of them is black.  The spouse of one is of Hispanic descent.  One of my children lives an alternative life style and is openly gay.  For 6 years, I was a single parent and raised 3 of my children alone.  My family has had crosses burned on our front lawn on two separate occasions.  Once when we brought home our adopted 6 week old black son and again 18 months later.  One of my children was murdered.  I am hardly your average white guy.

I was a data processing practitioner or consultant for all of my professional career (1953-1993).  I have worked in over fifty different companies, some vary large and some very small and many in between.  I have a lot of experience in white corporate America.

What we all heard Don Imus say this week is what I have heard all of my professional career in American corporations across this nation.  Because I look and sound just like the other white guy at work, people have always let down their guard to entertain me with their humor and opinions about minorities.  It is amazing how often, on the job, I have had to suppress my anger at the remarks I was hearing because the person saying them was a client or a boss.  It is amazing how often I had to repeated tell people of my life experience and how differently I felt than they did and that I found no humor in their “stories”.

I am not only talking about racism against blacks, but also Mexicans, women, homosexuals, and all of the other minorities we have here in America.

All of this racism continues in white America unabated today.  It is more carefully controlled than 40 years ago, but the good old boys club still is in effect.   Don Imus is just your typical racist person.  Publicly, they usually are on their good behavior, but will slip up occasionally.  We have seen lots of instances of this frequently in the past.  The problem is that these people only control themselves publicly because of the uproar that ensues when they do slip up.  They find pleasure and some sort of personal gratification in the racial joke that could just as easily be turn into parrot jokes.  But apparently parrot jokes don’t communicate their inner feelings nearly as well as minority jokes.

I am email pen pals with a number of ex-colleagues, classmates and friends and even though they know me pretty well, I still get the occasional joke that is totally raciest, bigoted and hurtful.  Just recently, one person I care a great deal about who is a Sunday school teacher sent me a horridly bigoted “joke”.  When I challenged them about the “joke” their response was they were just kidding.

Just kidding!  Well that is all that Imus was doing.  He was just kidding.

Wrong, he was not kidding, he was Speaking Out Stupid.
